HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-05-13 - AGENDA REPORTS - VALENCIA BLVD BICYCLE BRIDGE (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval Item to be presented by: Rick Putnam CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: May 13, 1997 SUBJECT: VALENCIA BOULEVARD BICYCLE BRIDGE PROJECT NO. 99-047-01- ADVERTISE FOR BIDS DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services BACKGROUND This project consists of the construction of a bicycle bridge adjacent to the west (downstream) side of the existing Valencia Boulevard Bridge near Creekside Road (see attached project map), and forms a part of bicycle trail called the Santa Clara River Trail - Phase III. Due to design and construction constraints, staff previously proposed that Phase III improvements be constructed under two separate design packages, a "trail" package and a "bridge" package. Council previously authorized the advertising for bids for the "trail" portion of the project, on April 8, 1997. Approval to advertise for Project No. 99-047-01, the "bridge' portion of the project, is requested at this time. Since the bridge lies outside City jurisdiction, approval from the Los Angeles County Public Works Bridge Section is required. Staff expects this approval shortly. Budget in the amount of $805,390 (PFA Funds); $573,000 (Developer Funds); $473,762.86 (Proposition 116 Funds); and $300,000 (Proposition C Funds) were previously authorized by City Council for the entire project. Appropriate fund accounts to track these costs have been established by staff under Account No. 80001. It is recommended that the City Council adopt the plans and specifications, and authorize staff to issue a Notice Inviting Bids for Project No. 99-047-01, the "bridge" portion of the project.
