CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL FLAG SALUTE CLOSED SESSION Item 1 7:00 -7:45 p.m. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN & PUBLIC OPINION POLL - 1996 Public Opinion Poll Results/Economic Development Strategy Update. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Council receive results of 1996 Community Opinion Poll, and provide direction and priority for future Economic Development program. Item 2 7:45 - 8:00 p.m. NEWIIALL RANCH UPDATE - On November 26, 1996, the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission continued the public hearing schedule for opposition on the Newhall Ranch project to the date of January 16, 1997. As a result of the City Council's direction, staff has met with the applicants of the Newhall Ranch Project on three separate occasions to discuss the City's concerns with the project. RECOM31ENDED ACTION. Council review and provide staff direction for addressing the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission regarding the remaining issues. Item 3 8:00 - 8:30 p.m. SKATEBOARD FACILITY - On May 14, 1996, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 96-68, application of Proposition A grant funds for the design and development of a skateboard facility. On May 30, 1996, the City was awarded $32,811 in Proposition A funds to be used toward the development of a skateboard park. Staff has spent the past several months evaluating 22 potential sites. The parks and Recreation Commission, skaters, Sheriff's station and Public Works have all given their support to seek approval from Council to pursue the Metrolink parcel on Soledad Canyon Road. RECOMMENDED ACTION.
