Orchard Rooms, 1st Floor 23920 Valencia Blvd. Santa Clarita, CA 91355 AGENDA *Study Sessions are for the purpose of allowing the City Council and staff to informally discuss and better understand major issues currently before the City. CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL FLAG SALUTE CLOSED SESSION Item 1 SANTA CLARITA TRANSIT COMMUTER EXPRESS BUS 7:00 - 7:45 p.m. SERVICE - In response to City Council requests, Mr. Terri Van Der Aa, President and Chief Executive Officer of our transit service contractor, ATC/Vancom, Inc. will be at this Study Session. Mr. Van Der As will identify actions the company is taking and going to take to restore service and equipment to Santa Clarita standards. RECOMMENDED ACTION. Receive and discuss the staff report and contractor presentation on Santa Clarita Transit service delivery. Item 2 SIGNAGE TASK FORCE AND UPCOMING DEADLINE FOR 7:45 - 8:15 p.m. COMPLIANCE - On November 24, 1992, the City Council adopted the Unified Development Code, including the Sign Ordinance. In an attempt to address the concern that too many signs within the City had been erected which did not conform to the Sign Ordinance, a stipulation was added to the Code which required all pre-existing legal signs and sign structures be removed nine (9) years from November 13, 1990. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Support staffs continued efforts on achieving compliance with the Sign Code by 1999. Item 3 8:15 - 8:45 p.m. DESIGN REVIEW - Interest has been expressed on the part of the Council and City staff to explore opportunities for improved design review. This report describes the past history of design review, the current procedure, and some options for new, or additional procedures by which development proposals may be reviewed for their aesthetic merits. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Review and discuss, give direction. 8:45 - 9:00 p.m. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION 9:00 P.M.
