Orchard Rooms, 1st Floor 23920 Valencia Blvd. Santa Clarita, CA 91355 AGENDA *Study Sessions are for the purpose of allowing the City Council and staff to informally discuss and better understand mdjor issues currently before the City. CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL FLAG SALUTE CLOSED SESSION Item 1 PRESENTATION BY GLEN BECERRA OF SOUTHERN 7:00-7:30 p.m. CALIFORNIA EDISON - RECOMMENDED ACTION: Receive presentation. Item 2 CITY CODE ENFORCEMENT OPERATIONS: REQUEST FOR 7:30-8:00 p.m. POLICY DIRECTION -During the previous six (6) months, staff has provided the City Council with an overview of Santa Clarita's Code Enforcement Section. On two occasions staff has discussed with the City Council the primary and secondary services provided by this Section, the City's present policy by which Code Enforcement Officers respond to formal complaints on a reactive basis, and the process and potential personnel. costs that would be associated with the introduction of "Proactive Code Enforcement" RECOMMENDED ACTION: Review and provide direction to staff on how they wish to proceed. Item 3 UNIT PRICING STUDY - VARIABLE CAN RATE - At the City 8:00-8:45 p.m. Council Study Session on May 21, 1996, staff presented the BEYOND 50 PERCENT WASTE REDUCTION BY 2000 report to Council. The purpose of the report was to explore means to achieve the maximum waste reduction while stabilizing residential refuse rates. Staff also has been directed to research a residential unit pricing system and prepare recommendations.
