A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT
THE PUBLIC INTEREST, CONVENIENCE, AND NECESSITY REQUIRE
THE REPLACEMENT OF OBSOLETE STREET LIGHTING ON RAILROAD AVENUE
WHEREAS, the street lighting system in the City of Santa Clarita is wholly within Coun;,v
Lighting Maintenance District (CLMD) 1867; and,
WHEREAS, CLMD 1867 is governed by the Improvement Act of 1911 and the Landscaping and
Lighting Act of 1972; and,
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Public Works Department maintains the proper operation
of the District; and,
WHEREAS, maintenance includes the replacement of any obsolete equipment with new modern
equipment found to be necessary for the proper operation of the District (Section 5835.3, Streets
and Highways Code).
-- NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA,
CALIFORNIA does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Santa Clarita ("City") hereby finds, determines,
and declares as follows:
A. The City Council hereby declares the street lighting equipment on Railroad Avenue
in the Newhall area of the City of Santa Clarita to be inadequate fof public street purpose- due
to the existing spacing of the street lights and the disharmony with the approved architectural
design standards of the Newhall Downtown Revitalization Plan; and,
B. The public interest, convenience, and necessity require the replacement of street
lights located on Railroad Avenue with new equipment for the proper operation required to
provide for public street purposes and all uses appurtenant thereto; and
C. The City Council hereby declares the street lighting equipment of Railroad Avenue
to be obsolete.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption.
