SUBJECT: 1996/97 ANNUAL SIDEWALK PROGRAM — PROJECT NO. S0009
PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Transportation and Engineering Services
City Council accept the work performed by Padilla Paving Company on the 1996/97 Annual
Sidewalk Program, Project No. 50009. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of
Completion. Direct staff to release the five percent retention 35 days after the Notice of
Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices as provided by law have been filed.
On October 28, 1997, Council awarded a contract for the. subject project to Padilla Paving
Company. This project installed new sidewalks, pedestrian access ramps, and curb and gutter
in four City locations (see attached Project Location Map).
This work was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on May 28, 1998. This
project was completed under budget and on time. The construction cost of this project was
$99,298.18.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
No alternative actions identified by staff.
FISCAL IMPACT
Total budget for the 1996/97 Annual Sidewalk Program, Project No. S0009, is $175,500.00.
The total project cost over three years is $168,724.00, which includes staff time, design and
survey costs, and landscaping services for McBean Parkway, for a total project savings of
$6,776.00.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the
right-of-way upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as:
1996/97 Annual Sidewalk Program, Project No. S0009.
2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA 91355-
2196.
3. The general location of said public improvement is: Area I: West side of Honby Street
between Santa Clara Street and Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country; Area II: East
side of Atwood Boulevard between Evans Avenue and Powell Drive in Newhall; Area III:
North of Sierra Highway between Friendly Valley Parkway and Whispering Leaves Drive,
and the south side of Sierra Highway between Whispering Leaves Drive. and Vista
del Canon; Area IV: South side of McBean Parkway between the Interstate 5 off -ramp and
Tournament Road.
4. On October. 28, 1997, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to:
Padilla Paving Company, 17235 Sierra Highway, Santa Clarita,CA 91351.
5. Work under.said contract was completed on May 28, 1998 to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer, and was accepted by the City on June 23, 1998.
