CONSENT CALENDAR

SUBJECT: APPROPRIATION OF GRANT FUNDS
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council approve appropriation of $6,871.65 in account number 7220-7312 and
increase estimated revenues by: $6,288 in new grant money and $583.65 from
current FY 97-98 budget, totaling $6,871,65 in account number 001-6484.
The Amateur Athletic Foundation awarded the City of Santa Clarita; Parks,
Recreation, and Community Services Department a grant totaling $17,107.17, of
which $6,871.65 is designated for purchase of equipment for fiscal year 97-98. The
remaining balance of $10,235.52 is budgeted for fiscal year 98-99.
As with many grants, the award did not coincide with the City's preparation of the
1997-98 fiscal year budget. As a result of this, the City Council must now
appropriate. the funds to the proper budget accounts in order for the equipment to be
purchased in the current fiscal year. Revenue estimates must also be adjusted to
compensate for the increase in grant generated revenues.
Staff is recommending that the City Council appropriate these funds to the proper
operations and maintenance accounts for the purchase of equipment.
