HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-07-14 - AGENDA REPORTS - JANITORIAL CONTR (2)CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: July 14, 1998 City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: Terri Maus SUBJECT: AWARD OF JANITORIAL CONTRACT DEPARTMENT: Field Services RECOMMENDED ACTION That the City Council renew.the contract with Lee's Maintenance for $103,290 and authorize an additional $5,000 for contingency. These funds have been budgeted in FY 1998-1999 in account numbers 5502-8001 and 5507-8001. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND On April 8, 1997, the City Council directed the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department to waive the bidding process and prepare an RFP (Request for Proposals) for janitorial services. This was done to establish high quality janitorial services based upon a thorough evaluation of the following criteria: responsiveness, price, on site inspections of similar facilities, professional references, and contractual compliance. On July 8, 1997, the City Council awarded the bid to Lee's Maintenance for one year, with the option to renew annually for three additional years. Staff has been satisfied with the level of service provided by Lee's Maintenance in the,. City's park facilities, and would like to renew the contract. The contract provides for ongoing janitorial services in all of the City's park buildings, as well as in the new Santa Clarita Sports Complex. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by Council. FISCAL IMPACT Funds for this expenditure, in the amount of $108,290, have been budgeted in account numbers 5502-8001 and 5507-8001.
