HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-06-09 - AGENDA REPORTS - LACO AGMT FOR GS (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: June 9, 1998 Barbara Boswell SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF GENERAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH LOS ANGELES COUNTY FOR MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES DEPARTMENT: Administrative Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council adopt Resolution No. 98-74, requesting renewal of the General Services Agreement with the County of Los Angeles, and authorize the City Manager to sign the agreement, subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND Currently, the County of Los Angeles provides services such as predatory animal control, prosecution of city ordinances, direct assessment collection, and a variety of public works activities under the General Services Agreement. The current Agreement expires June 30, 1998. The new agreement would be in effect for a period of five years, expiring June 30, 2003, with an option to renew for an additional five years. This contract can be canceled at the request of either party with thirty days' written notice. ALTERNATIVE ACTION Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT Funds for services are included in the 1998-99 Recommended Budget currently being considered by City Council. RESOLUTION NO. 98-74 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, . REQUESTING RENEWAL OF THE GENERAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES FOR MISCELLLANEOUS SERVICES WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clarita and the County of Los Angeles by and through their respective legislative bodies on June 23, 1998, following the incorporation of the City of Santa Clarita, entered into an agreement whereby the County of Los Angeles agreed to provide miscellaneous services, including predatory animal control, prosecution of City ordinances, direct assessment collection, and a variety of public works activities within the City of Santa Clarita; and WHEREAS, the existing General Services agreement between the City of Santa Clarita and the County of Los Angeles will expire on June 30, 1998, unless the City Council by resolution adopted prior to June 30, 1998, requests the Board of Supervisors to renew said agreement and said Board of Supervisors agrees to renew said agreement; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita states its intent and desire to renew said agreement. NOW, THEREFORE,'THE CITY COUNCIL.OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA does resolve as follows: SECTION 1: The Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles be requested to renew that certain agreement entitled "General Services Agreement" heretofore made and entered into between the City of Santa Clarita and the County of Los Angeles, effective July 1, 1998. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and shall forward a certified copy thereof to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles.
