SUBJECT: MAGIC MOUNTAIN PARKWAY MEDIAN LANDSCAPING - PROJECT
NO. B1003 - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Transportation & Engineering Services
City Council accept the work performed by Acacia Landscaping & Erosion Control, Inc. on the
Magic Mountain Parkway Median Landscaping, Project No. B1003. Direct the City Clerk to
file the attached Notice of Completion. Direct staff to release the five percent retention 35 days
after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have
been filed.
BACKGROUND
An Economic Devel^pment Administration (EDA) grant was awarded to the City to construct
public improvements, including landscaping and irrigation, on Magic Mountain Parkway
between Valencia Boulevard and San Fernando Road.
On June 24, 1997, the City Council awarded a contract for the subject project to Acacia
Landscaping & Erosion Control, Inc. This project was completed to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer on January 17, 1998. The total cost of construction was $142,200. This project was
completed on time and within budget.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
No alternative actions identified by staff.

The total project budget was $190,000, and the total project cost was $180,000. Maintenance
of the median improvements will be funded through the Valencia Areawide One Landscape &
Lighting District.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
1. The California Department of Transportation is the owner in fee upon which it has been
constructed, of a certain public improvement known as: Magic Mountain Parkway Median
Landscaping - Project No. B1003.
2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA
91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvement is on Magic Mountain Parkway between
Valencia Boulevard and San Fernando Road,
4. On June 24, 1997, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to:
Acacia Landscaping & Erosion Control, Inc., 604 San Marcos Road, Santa Barbara, CA
93111.
5. Work under said contract was completed on January 17, 1998 to the satisfaction of the
City Engineer, and was accepted by the City on February 24, 1998.
