DATE: March 24, 1998
SUBJECT: A TAX SHARING RESOLUTION FOR SANITATION DISTRICT
ANNEXATION NO. 293
RESOLUTION 98-48
DEPARTMENT: Planning and Building Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Adopt Resolution 98-48, approving and accepting the negotiated exchanged of property tax
revenues resulting from Sanitation District Annexation No. 293.
Los Angeles County Sanitation District Nos. 26 and 32 provide wastewater treatment services
cooperatively through the Santa Clarita Valley Joint Sewerage System. To provide wastewater
treatment service to property located outside of the Districts' service area, the service area
boundary must be expanded through the annexation process. As part of this process, a tax -
sharing resolution to provide the required funding to the Sanitation Districts is adopted by the
public agencies responsible for providing services to the subject property.
Local agencies receiving an apportionment of property tax from the annexing area must
determine the amount of tax revenues to be exchanged between the affected agencies. For this
annexation, a total of 1.30445 percent of the annual tax increment attributable to the land area
involved in the annexation will be transferred to Sanitation District No. 26. Of this total, the
City is contributing 0.1243 percent of its revenues from the annual tax increment for the
annexation area.
The proposed annexation area is newly constructed single-family residential properties of
approximately 11 acres located on Placeritos Boulevard between Aden Avenue and Cast Avenue.
Annexation would provide treatment for the development of 16 single family dwelling units.
The property is consistent with the City's General Plan land use designation and zoning for the
site (RL -Residential Low, 1.1- 3.3 dwelling units per acre). This subdivision, Tract 45979 was
approved by the Planning Commission on March 6, 1990.
