SUBJECT: SIERRA HIGHWAY/STATE ROUTE 14 CONGESTION CORRIDOR
OVERLAY (PROJECT NO. S3002) AND RESTRIPING (PROJECT
NO. C0001) —PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Transportation and Engineering Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council accept the work performed by Silvia Construction, Inc., on the Sierra Highway
Overlay and Restriping, Project Nos. 53002 and C0001. Direct the City Clerk to file the
attached Notice of Completion. Direct staff to release the 10% retention 35 days after the
Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed.
On October 28, 1998, Council awarded a contract for the subject project to Silvia Construction,
Inc. This project overlaid Sierra Highway from Soledad Canyon Road to Vista Del Canon, and
restriped Sierra Highway from Soledad Canyon Road to Friendly Valley
Parkway. Additionally, the traffic signals at the Sierra Highway and Friendly Valley
Parkway/Whispering Leaves intersection were upgraded to the latest Caltrans standards. (See
attached Project Location Map).
This work was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on August 17, 1998. This
project was completed on schedule and within the allotted budget.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
No alternative actions identified by staff.
FISCAL IMPACT
Total budget for this project is'$1,031,277.16. The total cost for this project was $1,031,277,16,
which includes staff time, design, and survey costs.

NOTICE OF. COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
1. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the
right-of-way upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known
as SIERRA HIGHWAY OVERLAY, PROJECT NO. 53002, AND SIERRA HIGHWAY
RESTRIPING, PROJECT NO. C0001.
2. The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard; Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California
91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvement is Sierra Highway from Soledad Canyon
Road to Friendly Valley Parkway.
4. On October 28, 1997, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to
Silvia Construction, Inc., 9007 Center Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga, California 91729.
5. Work under said contract was completed on August 17, 1998, to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer, and was accepted by the City on August 25, 1998.
