SUBJECT: VALENCIA BOULEVARD BICYCLE BRIDGE - PROJECT NO. 99-047-01
PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council accept the work performed by Stevens Construction, Inc. on Valencia Bicycle
Bridge, Project No. 99-047-01. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion.
Direct staff to release the project retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded,
provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed.
BACKGROUND
On June 24, 1997, City Council awarded Project 99-047-01 to Stevens Construction, Inc. This
project consisted of the construction of a bicycle bridge adjacent to the west side of the Valencia
Boulevard Bridge, and forms part of a regional trail system called the Santa Clara River Trail
(see attached project map).
This project was completed to the satisfaction of the Director of Parks, Recreation, and
Community Services on February 12, 1998. The project was completed three weeks ahead of
schedule, and the original project scope was completed approximately $5,000 under the
construction budget of $344,310.
The contractor was also instructed to provide a number of out -of -scope improvements, including
the construction of additional erosion protection along the adjacent roadway bridge structure
and bank. Staff determined that the current contractor could provide this work in the most
timely and cost effective manner.
The total cost of all work performed under the contract was $352,670.10. No additional funds
are being requested, since sufficient funds exist in the overall project budget to cover the out -
of -scope improvements.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
1. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee; except for the right-of-way
upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as: Valencia
Boulevard Bicycle Bridge - Project No. 99-047-01.
2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA 91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvement is: Valencia Boulevard, approximately 200 feet
north of Creekside Road, in the City of Santa Clarita, County of Los Angeles, State of California.
4. On June 24, 1997, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to: Stevens
Construction, Inc., 530 W. Avenue L, Lancaster, California 93534.
5. Work under said contract was completed on February 12, 1998 to the satisfaction of the
Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, and was accepted by the City on
February 24, 1998.
