Century Room, 1st Floor 23920 Valencia Blvd. Santa Clarita, CA 91355 AGENDA *Study Sessions are for the purpose of allowing the City Council and staff to informally discuss and better understand mgjor issues currently before the City. CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL FLAG SALUTE ITEM 1 WATER IN THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY— Earlier this year, the 7:00 — 8:00 p.m. City Council requested staff to provide an informational presentation regarding water in the Santa Clarita Valley. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Receive . staff presentation for informational purposes. ITEM 2 INCREASED IMPLEMENTATION AND USE OF SANTA 8:00 — 8:30 p.m. CLARITA'S. GIS IN ORDER TO PLAN AND TO MONITOR DEVELOPMENT — The purpose of this item is to advise the Council of the progress staff has made to date in order to implement a DMS and to obtain the Council's support of staff to pursue this concept in order to monitor development and to administer an infrastructure maintenance program. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Receive report regarding staffs efforts to pursue a Development Monitoring System (DMS) and to direct staff to increase layers and usage of its Geographical Information System (GIS) and to return to Council with a budget item to be incorporated in Fiscal Year 98/99 for the first year of enhanced GIS program implementation. ITEM 3 BUDGET SCHEDULE — The 1998/99 Fiscal Year Budget process is 8:30 — 8:45 p.m. Underway, and has given Council several budget study session dates to review. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Review and comment on the proposed schedule of dates for the various phases of review of the 1998/99 Fiscal Year Budget. ITEM 4 COUNCIL COMMITTEES — On a yearly basis, the City Council updates 8:45 — 9:00 p.m. the Council Committee list.
