HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-03-24 - RESOLUTIONS - FUNDING LACO DIVISION CMSN (2)RESOLUTION NO. 98-53 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, FORMING AND CONTRIBUTING FUNDING FOR THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY DIVISION COMMISSION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Cla#ta hereby declares its intent to form the Los Angeles County Division Commission (the "Commission'); WHEREAS, the Commission will be formed once one or more local agencies that have an aggregate population of 2,000,000 or more people have adopted a resolution of intent; and WHEREAS, the Commission shall be required to issue a report with recommendations to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, the Governor, and the Legislature by January 1, 2001; WHEREAS, the report shall include the following: a) A comprehensive analysis of the fiscal health and service delivery capability of the County of Los Angeles; b) Determination if the division of the County of Los -Angeles into two or more smaller counties would result in enhanced fiscal health and service delivery; C) Determination of whether or not a division would be detrimental to the fiscal health or capability and efficiency of service delivery of any territory that would be affected by the division; d) The Commission could recommend boundaries for any proposed division in order to enhance services to residents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, THAT: Section 1. The City agrees to contribute funding to the Commission in proportion to the number of its representatives on the Commission Board. Section 2. Representatives of participating jurisdictions shall serve as the governing board of the Commission with an additional representative for each 100,000 citizens within its territory. Section 3. The City recognizes the Commission may recommend that agencies providing efficient and effective services (such as police and fine protection) provide continued service to all future potential counties within the current boundaries of Los Angeles County.
