Home My WebLink About1998-11-24 - RESOLUTIONS - SOLEDAD STREET VACATE (2)RESOLUTION NO. 98-139 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ORDER THE VACATION OF SOLEDAD STREET IN THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA WHEREAS, stated in Chapter 3 (General Vacation Procedure), of the Streets and Highways Code, in order to vacate a street or public service easement, a Resolution of Intention may be adopted by the legislative body of the local agency, in this case the City Council; and WHEREAS, that portion of Soledad Street extending 306+ feet west of Oak Street, which dead ends at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power right-of-way, is required neither for street nor highway purposes, nor for general public access. There are utilities along the street for which easements will be reserved; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita wishes to declare its intent to vacate a portion of Soledad Street, and order the time and place for the public hearing on this matter. NOW, THEREFORE, Pursuant to the provisions of the "Street Vacation Act of 1941," being Part 3 of Division 9 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita, does resolve, declare, determine, and order as follows: SECTION . That the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita declares its intent to vacate that portion of Soledad Street, west of Oak Street off Soledad Canyon Road. That portion of Soledad Street to be vacated is described on Exhibit "A" and shown on Exhibit "B," attached hereto, and incorporated herein by this reference, which real property is located in the City of Santa Clarita, in the County of Los Angeles, State of California. SECTION 2. That the public hearing on this matter will be held at the regular City Council meeting in the City Council Chambers, at City Hall, 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Santa Clarita. California 91355, at 6:30 p.m., on January 12, 1999. At this time and place, all persons interested in or objecting to the proposed vacation of this public street may appear before the City Council to be heard, offer testimony, and submit evidence in relation thereto. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk of the City of Santa Clarita, California, is hereby directed to cause a "Notice of Street Vacation of Soledad Street, within the City of Santa Clarita, California, and Public Hea-ring Thereon" to be published and posted as required. SECTION . The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and shall cause it to be published and posted in the manner prescribed by law.
