HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-05-11 - AGENDA REPORTS - PURCHASE HEAVY DUTY TRUCK (2)AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: Barbara Boswell CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: May 11, 1999 SUBJECT: CONTRACT AWARD FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE HEAVY DUTY TRUCK DEPARTMENT: Administrative Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council award the contract for one heavy duty truck to Western Truck Exchange in the amount of $ 62,015.35 and funds have been budgeted in account number 7330-8615. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to sign all necessary documents. BACKGROUND The City Council approved funds in the FY 98/99 budget for the purchase of one heavy duty dump stake truck. A notice inviting bids was sent to Bidnet, Chamber of Commerce, Valencia Industrial Association and advertised in the local newspapers. Bid packages were delivered to 9 other dealers who responded to the notice. A total of 2 responses were received. On April 29, 1999, the sealed bids were opened and read by the City Clerk, and the results of the bids with selected alternatives are shown below. Vendor Location Bid Western Truck Exchange Los Angeles $62,015.35 Wondries Fleet Division Alhambra $66,710.14 Staff has evaluated the responses and determined Western Truck Exchange to be the lowest responsive bidder. ALTERNATIVE ACTION 1. Reject all bids and direct staff to revise the specifications and rebid. 2. Other action as determined by the City Council.
