REALIGNMENT OF LUTHER DRIVE AND SOLEDAD CANYON
ROAD STREET IMPROVEMENTS — PROJECT NO. S3012
PROJECT ACCEPTANCE

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council accept the work performed by Excel Paving Company on the realignment of
Luther Drive and Soledad Canyon Road street improvements, Project No. S3012; direct the
City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion; and direct staff to release the 10
percent retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop
notices, as provided by law, have been filed.
BACKGROUND
On July 8, 1997, Council awarded a contract for the subject project to Excel Paving
Company. This project involved the realignment of Luther Drive and road improvements
along Soledad Canyon Road, including a raised median, two right -turn pockets, and the
construction of a new signal at the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Luther
Drive/Homyr Place.
This project was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on December 30, 1998.
The construction cost of Project No. S3012 was $446,388.34.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
No alternative actions identified by staff.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total budget for the Luther realignment project is $535,288.00. The total project cost is
$524,268.41, with a total savings of $11,019.59.
