S2037 AND 53003 - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE DEPARTMENT: Transportation and Engineering Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council accept the work performed by Security Paving, Inc. on the West Newhall Improvements Phase III and Camp Plenty Road Improvements, Project Nos. 52037 and 53003, respectively. Transfer $14,000.00 from the 1999-2000 General Fund New Sidewalk Construction Program, Project No. T0005, to the Camp Plenty Road Improvements, Project No. S3003. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion. Direct staff to release the 10 percent retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices as provided by law have been fled, subject to City Attorney approval. On March 9, 1999, the City Council awarded a contract for the subject projects to Security Paving, Inc. Project No. S2037 installed new sidewalk, pedestrian access ramps, and curb and gutter in the West Newhall area. Project No. S3003 installed sidewalk, curb and gutter, and a retaining wall on Camp Plenty Road between Calla Way and Stillmore Avenue (see attached Project Location Map). There is a need to transfer an additional $14,000 to this project, as construction costs were higher than originally anticipated because the project was built as a change order to an existing contract to expedite completion. This work was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on September 30, 1999. The construction cost of the West Newhall Phase III project is $243,401.36. The construction cost for the Camp Plenty Road Improvements. is $114,407.00. ALTERNATIVE ACTION Other action as determined by the City Council. The construction cost for this project is $243,401.36. The total project cost for Project No. 52037 is $303,342.59, which includes design, inspection, project management, and construction costs. *The total project saving is $27,409.17. The total budget for the Camp Plenty Road Improvements, Project No. 53003, is $117,999.72, including the transferred funds of $14,000.00. The construction cost for the Camp Plenty Road Improvements is $114,407.00. The total project cost as of October 25, 1999 is approximately $116,350.00, which includes design, inspection, project management, and construction costs. There are a few additional contingency posts that will be added to the total project cost. Transfer $14,000.00 from the 1999-2000 General Fund New Sidewalk Construction Program, Project No. T0005, to the Camp Plenty Road Improvements, Project No. 53003. *Note: The project savings from the West Newhall Improvements Phase III project are Community Development Block Grant Funds, which cannot be used on the Camp Plenty Road Improvements project. On March 9, 1999, a contract to construct said public improvements was awarded to: Padilla Security Paving, Inc., P.O. Box 1489, Sun Valley, CA 91353. 5. Work under said contract was completed on September 30, 1999, to the satisfaction of the City Engineer, and was accepted by the City on November 9, 1999.
