A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA
TO ESTABLISH PASSENGER LOADING/UNLOADING ZONES
AND A BUS ONLY ZONE
ON THE WESTERN SIDE OF CENTURION WAY
ADJACENT TO SAUGUS HIGH SCHOOL
WHEREAS, Section 22507 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California provides
for local authorities to prohibit stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles on certain streets
or highways or portions thereof during certain or all hours of the day; and
WHEREAS, a request was made to establish passenger loading/unloading zones
and a bus only zone located on the western side of Centurion Way adjacent to Saugus High
School; and
WHEREAS, it is consistent with normal traffic engineering practices to establish
passenger loading/unloading and bus only zones near schools.
THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA does
resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That two passenger loading/unloading zones and one bus only zone
along the western side of Centurion Way be established. The northern passenger
loadinglunloading zone would extend from the school driveway north of Hyssop Lane to the
driveway south of Hyssop Lane (450 feet). The southern passenger loading/unloading zone
would extend from the school driveway north of Caraway Lane to the next driveway to the
north (200 feet). The bus only zone would extend from the school driveway south of Hyssop
Lane to the next driveway to the south (200 feet). The posted hours for all three parking
zones would be from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on school days only.
SECTION 2. That the passenger loadinglunloading zones and bus only zone shall
apply when appropriate signs and/or curb markings giving adequate notice thereof have
been placed as described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. That staff shall install the necessary signs and/or curb markings to
effect this resolution.
