A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA
TO ESTABLISH TWO PASSENGER LOADING/UNLOADING ZONES
ON THE EAST SIDE OF PEACHLAND AVENUE
ADJACENT TO PEACHLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
WHEREAS, Section 22507 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California provides
for local authorities to prohibit stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles on certain streets
or highways or portions thereof during certain or all hours of the day; and
WHEREAS, a request was made to establish two passenger loading/unloading
zones located on the east side of Peachland Avenue adjacent to Peachland Elementary
School; and
WHEREAS, it is consistent with normal traffic engineering practices to establish
passenger loading/unloading zones near the school.
THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA does
resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That two passenger loading/unloading zones along the east side of
Peachland Avenue shall be established and U-turns at the southern school driveway shall
be prohibited. The passenger loading/unloading zones shall be in effect between the hours
of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on school days only. The northern
passenger loading/unloading zone shall extend from the northern school driveway to
250 feet north, and the southern zone shall extend from the southern school driveway to
250 feet south.
SECTION 2. That the passenger loading/unloading zones and U-turn prohibition
shall apply when appropriate signs and/or curb markings giving adequate notice thereof
have been placed as described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. That staff shall install the necessary signs and/or curb markings to
effect this resolution.
