HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-10-26 - RESOLUTIONS - REWARD MATTHEW NEMECEK (2)RESOLUTION NO. 99-179 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AUTHORIZING A REWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000 FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF THE PERSON OR PERSONS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPTED MURDER OF MATTHEW NEMECEK WHEREAS, on September 28, 1999 a masked assailant critically wounded 18 year old Explorer Scout Matthew Nemecek by brutally stabbing him several times. WHEREAS, the Sheriffs Department has investigated several leads, some of which have led to dead ends. WHEREAS, this crime violates state laws; and WHEREAS, the City Council at its regular meeting of November 12, 1996 established a reward policy to help facilitate the solving of crimes. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council at the regular City Council meeting of October 26, 1999 establish a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the attempted murder of Matthew Nemecek. SECTION 1. Pursuant to Government Code Section 53069.5, the City does hereby offer a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons whose willful misconduct resulted in the attempted murder of Matthew Nemecek. In the event multiple contributors of information, the reward shall be divided by the City in the manner it shall deem appropriate. SECTION 2. Claims for rewards under this section shall be filed with the City of Santa Clarita. The City shall resolve claims in the manner which it deems appropriate. SECTION 3. That this resolution shall take effect immediately. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall forward a certified copy thereof to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles.
