A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
-- CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA
SUPPORTING THE SANTA CLARITA ALL -AMERICA CITY COMPETITION
EFFORT
WHEREAS, the All -America City Award, sponsored by the National Civic League and
the Allstate Insurance Company, is one of the nation's oldest and most respected community
recognition program in the nation; and
WHEREAS, on April 20, 1999 the National Civic League announced Santa Clarita as
one of thirty finalists in the All -America City award competition from throughout the entire
nation; and
WHEREAS, the National Civic League is celebrating the 50`s anniversary of the All -
America City Award this year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, the All -America City Award Program promotes collaboration among
individuals, businesses, local government, non-profit organizations and all citizenry sectors in
the identification and solutions of community issues; and
WHEREAS, All -America City finalists exemplify grassroots involvement and consensus -
based decision making; and
WHEREAS, a delegation of 50 community members will represent the Santa Clarita
community at the All -America City Award Competition June 23-27, 1999 in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, ten communities in the nation will receive the 1999 All -America City
designation.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Santa
Clarita supports the efforts of the Santa Clarita All -America City delegation.
SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby support the 1999 Santa Clarita All -America
City competition effort.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
