SUBJECT: SANTA CLARITA CITY HALL SECOND FLOOR TENANT
IMPROVEMENT, PROJECT NO. F1003 — PROJECT ACCEPTANCE

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council accept the work performed by Cody Construction, Inc. for the City Hall Second
Floor Tenant Improvement, Project No. F1003; direct the City Clerk to file the attached
Notice of Completion; and direct staff to release the 10 percent retention 35 days after the
Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been
filed.
BACKGROUND
On January 11, 2000, the City Council awarded the construction contract to Cody
Construction, Inc. for the City Hall Second Floor Tenant Improvement. Construction
consisted of improvements to an approximate 5,000 -square -foot area to provide additional
office space on the second floor of City Hall for the City's Administrative Services
Department, formerly located on the third floor. This project constitutes a portion of
Phase II of City Hall's Five -Year Space Plan, which includes moving the Administrative
Services Department from the third floor to the second floor and expanding the
Transportation & Engineering Services Department, as well as the Planning Division, into
space vacated by the Administrative Services Department.
This project was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on June 2, 2000. The
project was given final inspection approval on time and was completed within budget.

FISCAL IMPACT
The contract award was for $168,680.00, plus a 15 percent contingency of $25,302.00, for a
total contract budget of $193,982.00. The total construction cost was $179,700.00, leaving a
remaining balance of $14,282.00.
