SUBJECT: 1999-2000 ANNUAL OVERLAY PROGRAM, PROJECT NO. M0010 —
PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Transportation & Engineering Services
City Council accept the work performed by Granite Construction Company on the
1999-2000 Annual Overlay Program, Project No. M0010; direct the City Clerk to file the
attached Notice of Completion; and direct staff to release the ten percent retention Sb days
after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law,
have been filed.
The Annual Overlay Program resurfaces various streets throughout the City to provide a
smoother ride for traffic, enhance the appearance of the area, and extend the economic life
of the roadway.
The major arterial streets for the 1999-2000 Annual Overlay Program included
Valencia Boulevard, McBean Parkway, Lyons Avenue, Sierra Highway, and Tournament
Road.
The local streets included in this program were in the Canyon Country area, bounded by
Sierra Highway to the west, the City limit to the east, SR -14 to the south, and the
City limit to the north.
On July 13, 1999, the City Council authorized the advertisement for bids for the 1999-2000
Annual Overlay Program, Project No. M0010. The City Clerk's Office received four
proposals and opened the bids on February 2, 2000.
On February 22, 2000, the City Council awarded a contract for construction of the subject
project to Granite Construction Company. The project included the pavement preparation,
dig outs, and heater remix, before applying the Asphalt Rubberized Hot Mix (ARHM)
overlay on the streets. The project was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer
on November 16, 2000.

FISCAL IMPACT
The total cost for construction was $2,441,000.00. Proposition C, Federal fund (STPL),
State fund (STIP), and the developer fees funded this project. The project was completed on
time and within budget.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
I. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner on file, of a certain
Public improvement known as 1999-2000 ANNUAL OVERLAY PROGRAM,
PROJECT NO. M0010.
2. The City s address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita,
California 91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvement is at various locations throughout the
City.
4. On February 22, 2000, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded
to Granite Construction Company, P.O Box 902600, Palmdale, California, 93590-2500.
5. Work under said contract was completed on November 16, 2000, to the satisfaction of
the City Engineer, and was accepted by the City on December 12, 2000.
