HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-12-12 - AGENDA REPORTS - MTA BOARD APPT FRANK ROBERTS (2)CONSENT CALENDAR, CITY OF BANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT City Manager Appro, Item to be presented DATE: December 12, 2000 SUBJECT: RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE APPOINTMENT OF FRANK ROBERTS TO THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS DEPARTMENT: Transportation & Engineering Services City Council adopt a resolution supporting the appointment of Frank Roberts to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors. The Board of Directors for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has 13 voting members. The Board is comprised of the five County Supervisors, the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles, and three additional people appointed by the Mayor and four elected officials representing the 87 other cities in the County. Through the League of California Cities City Selection Committee, the mayors of each city within their respective Sectors meet to nominate and vote for a mayor or councilmember Brom a fellow Sector city to be their Sector representative on the MTA Board of Directors. In April 1999, the Mayor of Lancaster, Frank Roberts, was nominated and elected to serve as MTA Director for the North County/San Fernando Valley Sector. Mr. Roberts was elected to serve the remaining two years of the four-year term of the previous Sector representative, Larry Zarin, after he announced his resignation from the MTA Board of Directors. His term as an MTA Director expires on January 1, 2001. The mayors of each city in the North County/San Fernando Valley Sector will meet on December 14 to nominate a representative to serve a four-year term on the MTA Board.
