Establish estimated revenues of $14,748 in the Miscellaneous Grants Fund account number 001-5175. Authorize $1,639 to be transferred from City Council Contingency Fund for the required 10% cash match. Appropriate budget as follows: Amount Account $ 1,639 7449-7011 $ 7,374 7449-7312 $ 7,374 7449-8110 Authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute any contract agreements or change orders arising out of this program. BACKGROUND This Resolution approves application for the OCJP Juvenile Accountability Grant. The City of Santa Clarita is eligible to receive $14,748 in grant funding from the State of California OCJP for a Juvenile Accountability Grant Program. The purpose of this funding is to promote greater accountability of juvenile offenders in the juvenile justice system. The allocation amount is determined by a formula based on law enforcement expenditures and Part I Violent Crimes. In order to fulfill requirements set forth to receive funding, the City must provide a $1,639 cash match. This grant is from April 1, 2000, to March 31, 2001. Funding from this grant will be used to develop and administer accountability -based sanctions for juvenile offenders and enable juvenile courts and juvenile probation offices to be more effective and efficient in holding juvenile offenders accountable and reducing recidivism. This will be achieved through implementation of the Sheriff's Department Vital Intervention Directional Alternatives Program designed to utilize proactive, innovative techniques for positive redirection for youth. ALTERNATIVE ACTION Other action as determined by City Council. FISCAL IMPACT The anticipated cost of this program is estimated to be $16,387. The grant award of $14,748 requires a 10% match of the total program budget, which equals $1,639 and is available in the City Council Contingency Fund.
