M0012 AND M0013 — AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS DEPARTMENT: Transportation & Engineering Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council approve the plans and specifications, and authorize advertising of bids for the 2000-01 Annual Overlay and Slurry Seal Programs, Project Nos. M0012 and M0013. On April 25, 2000, the City Council awarded the design contract for the 2000-01 Annual Pavement Maintenance project to Pavement Engineering Inc. This Annual Pavement Maintenance design contract includes two separate projects: the Overlay Program, Project No. M0012; and the Annual Slurry Seal Program, Project No. M0013. This item is for both the 2000-01 Annual Overlay Program and the 2000-01 Annual Slurry Seal Program. The Overlay project will resurface various streets to provide a smoother ride for traffic, enhance the appearance of the area, and extend the economic life of the roadway. The Slurry Seal project involves the surface preparation and application of emulsion slurry seal to seal cracks, enhance skid resistance properties, and increase pavement life. The streets to be included in this program are within the Canyon Country area. A general area map is located in Exhibit "A," a list of streets for overlay is located in Exhibit "B," and a list of streets for slurry seal is located in Exhibit "C." Plans and specifications for this project have been completed and are available for review in the City Clerk's reading file and the City Engineer's office. The project is currently based on the proposed Fiscal Year 2000-01 budget. Any changes to the estimated amounts will be adjusted prior to award of the contract. This action will delay construction and potentially subject the project to adverse weather conditions. 2. Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT " The estimated expenditure for the proposed Overlay project is $1 million, and the estimated expenditure for the proposed Slurry Seal project is $800,000.00. The requested funding, contingent upon budget adoption for Fiscal Year 2000-01, is $1.8 million from Proposition "C" Funds. Funds for the Overlay project in the amount of $1 million are proposed in the Fiscal Year 2000-01 budget in Account No. M0012205-8001, and funds for the Slurry Seal project in the amount of $800,000.00 are proposed in the Fiscal Year 2000-01 budget in Account No. M0013205-8001. Adjustments due to budget changes may be addressed at the time the project is awarded.
