RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council conduct the Public Hearing on the Fiscal Year 2001/2002 Operating Budget and
Five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP), and schedule the budget for adoption at the
June 26, 2001 meeting of the City Council.
BACKGROUND
The 2001-2002 Fiscal Year Budget and 2002-2006 Capital Improvement Program represents
the City's ongoing commitment to provide the community with the utmost quality and level of
service attainable. The proposed budget has total appropriations of $127.1 million. This
includes $49 million in Capital Projects, $23 million in Personnel costs, $54 million in
Operations and Maintenance, and approximately $1.1 in Capital Outlay.
The City Council has reviewed the proposed budget at three Study Sessions and has provided
staff with comments and recommended changes. Staff will provide a listing of all budget
changes for the final budget at the June 26 City Council meeting.
Staff presented the Budget and Capital Improvement Program to the Planning Commission on
June 5, 2001 who made a finding that the scheduled 2001/2002 projects, as well as the Five -
Year Capital Improvement Program, is consistent with the goals and policies of the General
Plan. In addition, staff presented the Budget and CIP to the Parks & Recreation Commission
on June 7, 2001.

PROPOSED FIVE-YEAR
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR 2002 / 2006
IN THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
A Public Hearing will be held before the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita to consider
the proposed budget for fiscal year 2001 / 2002 and the proposed Five -Year Capital
Improvement Program for 2002 / 2006 in the City of Santa Clarita.
The budget will be heard by the City Council in the City Hall Council Chambers, 23920
Valencia Blvd., 1st Floor, the 12' day of June, 2001, at or after 6:00 p.m.
If you wish to challenge this order in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you
or someone else raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written
correspondence delivered to the City Council, at, or prior to, the public hearing.
Proponents, opponents, and any interested persons may appear and be heard on this matter
