SUBJECT: 2000-01 ANNUAL SLURRY SEAL PROGRAM — PROJECT
NO. M0013 — PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Transportation & Engineering Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council accept the work performed by Valley Slurry Seal Company on the 2000-01
Annual Slurry Seal Program; direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of
Completion; and direct staff to release the remaining ten percent retention 35 days after
the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have
been filed.
BACKGROUND
On May 8, 2001, the City Council awarded a contract for the 2000-01 Annual Slurry Seal
Program to Valley Slurry Seal Company. The project provided for surface preparation and
application of emulsion slurry seal to seal cracks, enhance skid resistance properties, and
increase pavement life. The streets included in the project were within the Saugus and
Canyon Country areas. The project was completed within budget and to the satisfaction of
the City Engineer on November 9, 2001.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION
Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
The project realized a Contingency Fund cost saving of approximately $10,000.00.
