Terri Mann SUBJECT: CONFIRMING APPOINTMENT OF THE COMMUNITY ENERGY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS DEPARTMENT: Field Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council approve appointment of slate of members to the Community Energy Advisory Committee. BACKGROUND At the City Council meeting of June 26, 2001, Council directed staff to solicit interested community members to form the Community Energy Advisory Committee. The committee as originally presented consisted of eight community members appointed by the City Council, two City Council members, two City staff members, two alternate community members, and an employee of Southern California Edison to act as an ex -officio member. At the City Council meeting of July 10, 2001, Council approved interim appointment of Committee members. The Committee consisted of the following members: • Councilmember Cameron Smyth • Councilmember Bob Kellar • George Caravalho, City Manager • Anthony Nisich, Director of Transportation and Engineering Services • Wayne Crawford • Josef Grafues • John Grannis • Charles O'Connor • Thomas Petersen • Douglas Sink • Connie Worden-Roberts • John Ahrens, Alternate • Brad Packer, Alternate Following the July 10, 2001 City Council meeting, Jim Schrage, representative of College of the Canyons, was added to the Committee. In addition, Wayne Crawford is serving as Chair, and John Grannis as Vice Chair. APPROWED Agenda Item. CONFIRMING APPOINTMENT OF THE COMMUNITY ENERGY ADVISORY COMMITTEE August 28, 2001 — Page 2 The initial meeting of the Committee was held on July 18, 2001. At the meeting of August 8, 2001, Thomas Petersen formally resigned from the Committee. John Ahrens was appointed a voting member of the Committee. At this time, the following members are presented for formal appointment to the Community Energy Advisory Committee by the City Council: • Councilmember Cameron Smyth • Councilmember Bob Kellar • Anthony Nisich, Director of Transportation and Engineering Services • John Ahrens • Wayne Crawford • Josef Grafues • John Grannis • Charles O'Connor • Jim Schrage • Douglas Sink • Connie Worden-Roberts • Brad Packer, Alternate The Community Energy Advisory Committee will provide the City Council with a recommendation on a course of action at the City Council meeting of September 11, 2001. ALTERNATIVE ACTION Other action as determined by Council. FISCAL IMPACT Funds for administration of the Community Energy Advisory Committee and related meeting expenses is appropriated in Account No. 5100-8112. ATTACHMENT None /admin/ccitems/energyadv.doc
