SUBJECT: AWARD OF INSURANCE BROKER CONTRACT

Agency), to provide insurance broker services for the City of Santa Claxita.
Prudent government Practice dictates that a periodic review of ongoing services and
programs is a sensible course of action from a fiscal and fairness perspective, Therefore,
City staff solicited Request for Proposals (RFV9) from regional and
il inland marine, crime, earthquake, and
services for general liability, automob e, property, local insurance broker
flood insurance. The purpose for renewing this contractual agreement is to ensure the
City is receiving the best services at the beat price.
The RFP requested specific information regarding the company, the organization and
personnel, summary reports, insurance, scope of work, client references, and insurance
Premium quotations. Proposals were received from Seymour & Parker Insurance Brokers,
LLC and Insurance Associates (formerly Antelope Valley Insurance Agency). The
Proposals were reviewed based on the RFP criteria by an internal review panel and an
independent consultant. Based on the coverage responded by both bidders, annual
premiums would be:

It is important to note that Seymour and Parker Insurance Brokers did not provide a
quote for Earthquake & Flood as requested. However, the City will be requesting this
coverage from the successful bidder,
Based on the review of the responses to the PJ?, Insurance Associates (formerly Antelope
Valley Insurance Agency) has demonstrated the best combination of coverage, service, and
Premium cost. And, therefore is recommended to be the provider of insurance coverage for
the City. Furthermore, this company is the incumbent broker and has provided
satisfactory services to the City.
Funds in the amount of $362,428 have been budgeted in account # 1600-8501 (risk liability)
from fiscal year 2000-2001.
