SUBJECT: FOLLOW-UP TO JOINT MEETING REGARDING BUDGET
ISSUES

Receive report and provide direction on Aquatics Center Construction phasing, Parks
and Recreation fees, and current City programs.
BACKGROUND
On April 5, 2001 the City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission held a joint
meeting to discuss the phasing options for the Aquatics Center, review of Recreation
fees, and current City programs. However the Council and Commissioner did not
have an opportunity to finish the discussion; therefore, it was requested that a follow-
up joint meeting be scheduled to continue the dialogue.
The Department of Parks Recreation and Community Services has reviewed the
current fees and presented proposed fee adjustments to the public at a meeting on
May 23, 2001. Parks and Recreation fees are scheduled to be presented to the Parks
& Recreation Commission at tonight's regular commission meeting.
Tonight's special joint meeting will allow the continuation of the April 5 discussion on
the phasing of the Aquatics Center, fees, and current City programs. Attached is a
listing of these programs, showing the cost and offsetting revenues.
