SUBJECT: CERAMIC TILE PROJECT NO. P0001-001

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council accept the work performed by Blackwood Builders, Inc. in the Ceramic Tile Project,
Project No. P0001-001. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion. Direct staff
to release project retention of $11,603.60, 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded,
provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed.
BACKGROUND
On February 2, 2000, the City Council awarded Project P0001-001 to Blackwood Builders, Inc. This
project consisted of installing ceramic tile in the Valencia Glen Aquatics Building and the Valencia
Meadows Aquatics Building. In addition, decorative ceramic tile, designed by local school children,
was installed in the restrooms at Valencia Glen Park, Valencia Meadows Park, Newhall Park, Old
Orchard Park, Bouquet Canyon Park, and Santa Clarita Park.
This project was completed to the satisfaction of the Director of Field Services on March 12, 2001.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
No alternative actions identified by staff.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total cost for file installation was $138,536.00. Funds totaling $96,450.00 were allocated for
this project in the Fiscal Year 1999/2000 budget. Additional funding of $37,636.00 was transferred
from Auxiliary Lot Expansion F1005001 to meet full costs of the project. An additional $5,450.00
was transferred from F3008001 to meet the cost of alternate tile selection for the Valencia Glen
Aquatics Building.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
1. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner on file, of a certain
public improvement known as WEST NEWHALL IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE 108,
PROJECT NO. S2041.
2. The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita,
California 91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvement is in the West Newhall area of the
City.
4. On September 14, 1999, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded
to Padilla Paving Company, 17235 Sierra Highway, Santa Clarita, California, 91351.
5. Work under said contract was completed on March 9, 2001, to the satisfaction of the
City Engineer, and was accepted by the City on March 27, 2001.
