To get finalized intersections. The City originally reserved $200,000.00 worth of LED rebates from Southern California Edison. Due to funding constraints, the fust phase of the LED installation will only claim approximately half of the total reserved rebates. The second phase of the project will claim the remaining rebate amount. However, there is a June 1, 2001 deadline to complete the LED project to receive the full rebate. If completed after June 1, 2001, the remaining unclaimed rebate will be reduced in half. To meet this deadline, staff is requesting authorization to add the City's Phase II LED Signal Display Installation existing contract with Metro Parkin the allowing this contract change will enable the City to meet the deadline estimaprojecttes the Parking and Traffic Systema Inc. Staff estimates that and remaining half of the Edison rebate of approximately $50,000.00. The purpose of the battery back-up system is to energize traffic signals during periods when anticipated rolling "brownouts" or Citywide power outages occur. Staff has coordinated with representatives of the Sheriffs Department in this Process, and both agree on the specific intersections identified to be upgraded. The attached Exhibit "A" shows the list of locations for the Phase II LED signal project and the signal battery back-up system. Exhibit "B" is a map showing all the LED locations and the proposed battery back-up signals. ALTERNATIVE A r1_0N Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL_ i TACT The total anticipated cost associated with Phase II of the LED program is $152,000.00, and the Battery Back-up System project is $98,000.00. transferred into CIP Account Nos. Several sources exist that can be C0017201-8001 (LED Phase II) and C0017001-8001 (Battery Back-up System) to fund these projects: Funds in the amount of $79,000.00 from Account No. 4332-8001 and $73,000.00 from Account No. 4331-8001 to C1P project Account No. C0017201-8001; and $30,000.00 from Account No. 4321-8001, $40,000.00 from Account No. 4322-8001, and $28,000.00 from Account No. 4321-8028 to CIP Project No. C0017001-8001. It is anticipated that these funds will convert an additional 21 existing signalized intersections to LED technology and provide battery back-up capability for up to M existin irculation and community safety "brownouts." g signalized intersections.
