SUBJECT: GOLDEN VALLEY ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION AND
GOLDEN VALLEY ROAD/SOLEDAD CANYON ROAD INTERCHANGE
DEPARTMENT: Transportation & Engineering Services
1. City Council approve an increase in estimated revenue in Account No. 301-6193 by
$1,500,000.00;
2. Adopt a resolution to authorize a loan in the amount of $800,000.00 from the
Bouquet Canyon Bridge and Thoroughfare District (Fund 301) to the Eastside Bridge
and Thoroughfare District (Fund 302);
3. Approve appropriations of $800,000.00 in Account No. S3006302-8001 for Golden Valley
Road Right -of -Way Acquisition and $700,000.00 in Account No. 53005301-8001 for the
Golden Valley Road/Soledad Canyon Road Interchange project.
BACKGROUND
As part of the ongoing construction of Golden Valley Road Phases II and III, certain
properties were needed in order to complete the road. The County of Los Angeles, working
with the City, has agreed to pay a portion of the costs associated with the acquisition of
certain properties and construction of Golden Valley Road. On October 4, 2001, the
Los Angeles County Department of Public Works informed the City that they would make
$1,500,000.00 available to the City to assist in completing Golden Valley Road and the
interchange.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
1. The City Council may choose not to accept funds from the Los Angeles County
Department of Public Works.
2. Other action as determined by the City Council.

FISCAL IMPACT
$1,500,000.00 will be added to the Golden Valley Road projects to assist in costs associated
with acquisition of right-of-way and construction of Golden Valley Road, including the
interchange.

FUNDING FOR GOLDEN VALLEY ROAD/SOLEDAD CANYON ROAD INTERCHANGE
This is in response to your September 21, 2001, letter requesting that $1,500,000 be made
available for the subject project from the Bouquet Canyon Bridge and Thoroughfare
District. We have reviewed your request and are pleased to make the funds available. A
warrant for $1,500,000 will be sent to your City separately within the next few weeks.
