BACKGROUND The City Council has expressed an interest in ensuring that the City is proactive in its approach to development proposals processed in Los Angeles County. Over the last several years, the City has been very involved in several key development projects. Many of these have changed significantly because of the City's involvement. In fact, both the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning and Supervisor Antonovich's office have welcomed the City's input and comments. In order to assist City staff in commenting on projects, staff will ask the City Council three key questions at tonight's study session: What kind of projects should the City be involved in? What kind of comments should the City make? What should the role of City staff, the Planning Commission and the City Council be in the City's comments on County projects? In order to facilitate the above discussion, staff will review the current process utilized to comment on County projects. The intent of this study session is to reach agreement on the above questions. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS No alternative actions have been identified. FISCAL IMPACT None by this action.
