Home My WebLink About2001-06-26 - AGENDA REPORTS - STRMDRN TRANSFR PN 12009 (2)CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT CONSENT CALENDAR City Manager Approval Item to be presented by DATE: June 26, 2001 SUBJECT: TRANSFER OF STORM DRAIN TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT (LACFCD) — PARCEL NO. 12009, PRIVATE DRAIN (PD) NO. 1640 DEPARTMENT: Transportation & Engineering Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council adopt a resolution for the transfer and conveyance of the storm drain improvements for Parcel Map No. 12009, Private Drain No. 1640, to the Los Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD); authorize the Mayor or designee to execute the attached Quitclaim Deed; and direct staff to transmit a copy of this report indicating the date and action taken, three copies of the unrecorded Quitclaim Deed properly executed, and three certified copies of the adopted Resolution to the Building & Safety/Land Development Division at the County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works. BACKGROUND The construction of Private Drain (PD) No. 1640 has been completed. The final inspection and final notice of completion for the storm drain are complete. The project is located at Anza Drive in the Valencia Industrial Park (Exhibit "A"). A detailed description of the facilities is depicted on Los Angeles County Flood Control District Drawing Nos. 43-F298.1 through 43-F298.8, on file with the Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. The developer, Newhall Land & Farming Company, constructed the storm drains in accordance with agreements and the Faithful Performance Bonds on file with the City. The agreements also provide that the work shall not be deemed completed until approved, accepted as complete, and transferred to LACFCD for maintenance. The City and County entered into an agreement on March 14, 1989, recorded as Document No. 89-1346418, which provides for the transfer of storm drains. The City Council must approve a resolution authorizing the transfer to complete the process. The transfer is then accepted and approved by the Board of Supervisors for LACFCD, who operates and maintains the storm drains for public use.
