HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-02-27 - ORDINANCES - TITLE 8 11 SCMC (2)ORDINANCE NO. 01-6 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 8 "ANIMALS" AND TITLE it "PUBLIC PEACE AND WELFARE" OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA MUNICIPAL CODE WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clarita initiated amendments to modify Title 8 "Anim and Title 11 "Public Peace and Welfare" of the City of Santa Clarita Municipal Code; also WHEREAS, the amendments include modifications to the following sections of the Municipal Code: Chapter 8.20 "Dogs, Part 1— Licensing," Chapter low "Cats" and Chapter 11.44 'Noise Limits." The proposed modifications/amendments are attached as Exhibit A; WHEREAS, a notice of exemption was prepared for the proposed amendments because the proposal amends the Municipal Code to provide enforcement actions and procedures for the regulation of the noise ordinance and the animal keeping requirements. Indirect impacts from the enforcement of these amendments are categorically exempt under. Section 15321, Class 21 of the California Environmental Quality Art (CEQA); and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita conducted a duly noticed public hearing on January 23, 2001 at City Hall, 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Santa Clarita, Ca 91355. The item was continued to the February 13, 2001 City Council meeting. At this meeting, the City Council introduced an ordinance to modify the Municipal Code and adopted the Notice of Exemption. NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: OF SANTA CLARITA DOES SECTION 1. The proposed amendments, as attached as Exhibit A, to the Santa Clarita Municipal meet the requirements of the Government Code of the State of California. SECTION 2. The proposed amendments to the Santa Clarita Municipal Code identified in Exhibit A are hereby adopted. SECTION 3. That if any portion of this ordinance is held to be invalid, that portion shall be stricken and severed, and the .remaining portions shall be unaffected and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause it to be published in the manner prescribed by law. PASSED AND APPROVED this 2T" day of February 2001.
