HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-11-12 - AGENDA REPORTS - APPT PLANNING COMMISSIONER (2)CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval UNFINISHED BUSINESS Item to be presented by: Sharon Dawson DATE: November 12, 2002 SUBJECT: NOMINATION AND APPOINTMENT OF PLANNING COMMISSIONER DEPARTMENT: Administrative Services RECOMMENDED ACTION Councilmember Smyth submit nomination to the entire Council for approval of appointment to fill an unexpired term on the Planning Commission. As a result of Rob Parris' resignation from the Planning Commission effective October 22, 2002, a notice of unscheduled vacancy was posted on Tuesday, October 8, in the City Clerk's Office, in the kiosk outside the Council Chamber and at the Valencia Library, in compliance with Government Code Section 54974. The Notice of Vacancy was published in The Signal on October 12 and October 15. Information and an application have also been available on the City's website. The deadline for receipt of applications was Thursday, October 31, 2002, at which time the City Clerk submitted copies of the applications received to the nominating authority of the City Council, Councilmember Smyth, as well as other members of the City Council. A list of applicants is attached. The term of office will expire on July 31, 2004. It is anticipated that the newly appointed Commissioner will be seated at the November 19 Planning Commission meeting. ALTERNATE ACTION Other action as directed by the City Council. Notice of Vacancy List of Applicants Applications (in City Clerk's Reading File) Agnrpt \ 02P1anCmsnAPPT.doc PER �P-, Agenda Item CITY OF SANTA CLARITA NOTICE OF UNSCHEDULED COMMISSION VACANCY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita encourages residents to apply for a position on the Planning Commission. One unexpired term of office on the Commission ends on July 31, 2004; the term had previously been filled by Rob Parris but is vacant effective October 22, 2002 due to his moving outside the City limits. Applicants must also submit three letters of recommendation with their application. Applicants must be 18 years or older and must maintain their principal residence in the City of Santa Clarita during their term of office. Residents may obtain applications or further information from the City Clerk's Office by calling 661-255-4391 or on the City's website, www.santa-clarita.com.
