HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-09-10 - AGENDA REPORTS - CULTURAL AFFAIRS ADVISORY CMTE (2)CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT CONSENT CALENDAR City Manager Approva Item to be presented by: Adele Macpherso DATE: September 10, 2002 SUBJECT: CULTURAL AFFAIRS ADVISORY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council approve three Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee nominees BACKGROUND In June 2000, City Council approved the concept of creating a local arts agency, known as the Cultural Affairs Office, to be housed in Parks, Recreation, and Community Services. Implementation of the new office included establishing an 11 -member Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee (CAAC). The purpose of the CAAC is to provide leadership, vision, connection, and commitment to cultural arts development. The CAAC is comprised of individuals representing arts, education, business, and the community at large. The current members of the CAAC are: TimBen Boydston, Gloria Locke, Rosy Loyola, Carmen Sarro, Murray Siegel, Paul Strickland, Rick Winsman and Kimberle Wooten. With three vacant seats remaining, CAAC members met with applicants in June and August 2002 to discuss their interest in serving on the CAAC. Candidates were evaluated and screened based on previously established criteria and overall experience in the arts. The following individuals are presented to City Council for approval: • Marlee Lauffer — Business Leader Nominee Dr. Michael McMahan — Educational, College Nominee Maria Blue — Educational, K-12 Nominee ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS 1.
