BACKGROUND
The County of Los Angeles has announced a new grant program to be administered through
the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District. This program makes funds
available to cities and the County of Los Angeles for recreation facility capital outlay, as well
as acquisitions for park and open space purposes.
A total of $1,817,107 is available to cities in the Fifth Supervisorial District of Los Angeles
County. The maximum grant amount is $175,000 and applicants are encouraged to submit
projects that create soccer fields, create or extend trails, or increase public open space.
According to the program guidelines, projects which have significant matching funds will be
favored over those that do not.
Upon approval of the resolution, a grant application will be submitted before the April 8, 2002
application deadline, consistent with the program guidelines.
