CONSENT CALENDAR

SUBJECT: GOLDEN VALLEY RANCH SETTLEMENT
DEPARTMENT: Planning and Building Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council approve the proposed settlement agreement and Conservation
Easement.
BACKGROUND
The Golden Valley Ranch project was approved by the City Council on January 24,
2002. A lawsuit was filed by the Golden Valley Ranch Task Force (Golden Valley
Ranch Task Force v. City of Santa Clarita) on March 8, 2002. The lawsuit alleged
violations during the development's CEQA process. The City Attorney's office has
worked with the property owner/developer and the plaintiffs to reach a settlement to
this lawsuit. After considerable effort a settlement has been reached.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other actions determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
No specific fiscal impact is anticipated by this action, other than the cost of legal
counsel to negotiate the settlement agreement.
