SUBJECT: GOLDEN VALLEY ROAD PHASE I AND HIGH SCHOOL SITE,
PROJECT NO. S3016 — PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Transportation & Engineering Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council accept the work performed by Sukut Construction, Inc. on Golden Valley Road
Phase I and High School Site, Project No. S3016; direct the City Clerk to file the attached
Notice of Completion; and direct staff to release the retention balance 35 days after the
Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been
filed.
BACKGROUND
On March 14, 2000, the City Council awarded a contract for construction of the subject
project to Sukut Construction, Inc. This project included the construction of Golden Valley
Road and storm drain facilities between Sierra Highway and the future Via Princessa, and
grading for the Golden Valley High School site. The project was completed to the
satisfaction of the City Engineer on July 16, 2001.

Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total contract cost with Sukut was $17,054,318.89, of which $8,252,902.32 is the
estimated City share for the construction of the road, and $8,801,416.57 is the estimated
Santa Clarita Valley Facilities Foundation share. Eastside Bridge and Thoroughfare funds
and a loan from the General Fund funded this project.
