HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-07-02 - AGENDA REPORTS - LAS LOMAS ANNEX (2)CITY OF SANTA CLARITA INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: Xenul Fer and City Councilmembers FROM: amp, me ' y Manager DATE: July 2, 2002 SUBJECT: PROPOSED LAS LOMAS ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES PROPOSED BY DAN PALMER RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council review and discuss BACKGROUND At the June 11, 2002, the City Council directed staff to schedule a study session regarding the proposed annexation to the City of Los Angeles for the Las Lomas project proposed by Dan Palmer. City staff has been closely following this project for the past several months and will present the Council with the status of the project and proposals for the City's strategy related to the project at the study session. Attached is a summary of the major points of the development project. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other actions as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT There is the potential that existing general funds may be required in the future if the City takes a strong position of opposition to the project. The proposed Las Lomas project is almost 2 times the density of Town Center West. Office/Retail/Community Services This project is proposing twice the square footage of the Valencia Town Center within an area that is 2,775,000 square feet 2.5 times smaller. Grading The applicant is proposing grading activities of approximately 2 times more than the proposed 20,000,000 cubic yards Tesoro del Valle project.
