SUBJECT: TAX SHARING RESOLUTION FOR SANITATION DISTRICT
ANNEXATION NO. 330 — LOCATED ON SIERRA HIGHWAY AND
GOLDEN VALLEY ROAD
DEPARTMENT: Planning and Building Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Adopt a resolution approving and accepting the negotiated exchange of property tax
revenues resulting from Sanitation District Annexation No. 330.
BACKGROUND
Los Angeles County Sanitation District Nos. 26 and 32 provide wastewater treatment
services cooperatively through the Santa Clarita Valley Joint Sewerage System. To provide
wastewater treatment service to property located outside of the District's service area, the
service area boundary must be expanded through the annexation process. As part of this
process, a tax -sharing resolution to provide the required funding to the Sanitation Districts
is adopted by the public agencies responsible for providing services to the subject property.
Local agencies receiving a portion of property tax from the annexing area must determine
the amount of tax revenues to be exchanged between the affected agencies. For annexation
No. 330, a total of 1.1836 percent of the annual tax increment attributable to the land area
involved in the annexation will be transferred to Sanitation District No. 26. Of this total,
the City is contributing 0.1263 percent of its revenues from the annual tax increment for
the annexation area.
This annexation is for an approved residential and commercial development located south
of Sierra Highway at the current terminus of Golden Valley Road (APN: 2842-002-039,
2842-002-040, 2842-002-041). The project, Canyon Gate, was approved by the City of Santa
Clarita Planning Commission in October 2000 and the City of Santa Clarita City Council in
November 2000. The approved project includes 148 single-family homes to be constructed
by DR Horton and a 10,000 square foot commercial center.
