SUBJECT: 2001-02 ANNUAL SLURRY SEAL PROGRAM — PROJECT
NO. M0017 — PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Transportation & Engineering Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council accept the work performed by American Asphalt South, Inc., on the
2001-02 Annual Slurry Seal Program; direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of
Completion; and direct staff to release the remaining ten percent retention 35 days after
the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have
been filed.
BACKGROUND
On April 23, 2002, the City Council awarded a contract for the 2001-02 Annual Slurry Seal
Program to American Asphalt South, Inc. The project provided for surface preparation and
application of emulsion slurry seal to seal cracks, enhance skid resistant properties, and
increase pavement life. The streets included in the project were within the Valencia and
Canyon Country areas. The project was completed within budget and to the satisfaction of
the City Engineer on October 14, 2002.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION
Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
The project was completed on time and within budget.
