HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-09-10 - AGENDA REPORTS - TREE MAINT CONTR (2)CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: September 10, 2002 City Manager Approval: _ Item to be presented by: Chris Daste SUBJECT: EXTENSION OF TREE MAINTENANCE CONTRACT DEPARTMENT: Field Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council approve a one-year extension of existing contract for tree maintenance services with True Green Landcare for an amount not to exceed $500,000 from Account No. 5600-8001. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute all contract documents for the renewal of this current contract, subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND In July of 2001, the City entered into a one-year contract with True Green Landcare for the provision of tree maintenance services. This contract allowed for four (4) additional one-year renewable terms at the option of the City, if mutually agreeable to both parties. This request is for the first of four possible extensions. True Green Landcare has provided exceptional service to the City throughout this contracting period. Their staff is well qualified and knowledgeable of the City's standards for tree maintenance and care. The company has been extremely responsive in meeting the City's needs on both a day-to-day and emergency basis. City staff has received several compliments from citizens regarding the professionalism exhibited by the contractor's crews when working in residential areas. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Direct staff to re -bid the contract for tree maintenance services, while retaining True Green on a month-to-month contract until a new contract is signed. Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT Funds for this expenditure, in the amount of $500,000, have been budgeted in Account No. 5600-8001 in FY 2002/2003. ..
