PRESENTATION - In 1996, the City of Santa Clarita adopted CHARACTER COUNTS!, a National nonpartisan, nonsectarian alliance made up of various schools, communities, and nonprofit organizations, dedicated to strengthening the character of America's people with a consistent set of ethical values. These values, called the "Six Pillars of Character," are Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Receive and comment. ITEM 2 6:15 - 7:00 p.m. HISTORIC PRESERVATION REPORT - In early, 2001, the City Council directed staff to prepare a study identifying the pros and cons of various options for an expanded historic preservation program. In March of 2001, preparation of the report was completed. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Receive and discuss the pros and cons outlined in the Historic Preservation report and provide direction to staff.
