CITY COUNCIL ANNUAL MEETING WITH
SUPERVISOR MICHAEL D. ANTONOVICH
JUNE 189 2002
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Ferry called the meeting to order at 8:20 a.m. in the Activities Center of the
Santa Clarita Sports Complex.
ROLL CALL
All Councilmembers were present with the exception of Councilmember Smyth.
WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS
Mayor Ferry welcomed all in attendance.

Representatives of the City and County
TOUR AND OVERVIEW OF ACTIVITIES CENTER
Rick Gould, Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services gave a brief tour of
the Activities Center.
JOINT CITY / COUNTY GENERAL PLAN
Ken Pulskamp, Interim City Manager, gave a brief presentation regarding City / County
collaboration of several issues including: status of the TMC project; Sand Canyon Storm
Drain project; Jo Anne Darcy Library; School Coalition; Bridge and Thoroughfare
Districts; importance of the Field Office and Representative Millie Jones; Prop 40.
ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION
Each Councilmember commented on a particular topic as follows:
Councilmember McLean One Valley / One Vision efforts and results of survey and
concerns for shared tax revenue for the power center in Stevenson Ranch.
Councilmember Weste - Open Space preservation/acquisition; planning of future park
sites; accomplishments regarding Whitney Canyon, Elsmere Canyon.
Councilmember Kellar - Importance of continuing to work with the youth of this valley
and their connection with One Valley / One Vision; importance of a new Community
Center.
Mayor Ferry - Transportation issues and the connection of the b and the 14 Freeways;
Alliance of School Districts; Cross Valley Connector.

Supervisor Antonovich, County Staff and City Staff provided comments as appropriate.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Addressing the Council and Supervisor at this time was Laura Hauser, Parks &
Recreation Commissioner, regarding the collaborative efforts of open space and trails and
the importance of connecting the communities for the future.
Steve Lindsey of the Los Angeles County Fire Department gave an update regarding the
Copper Fire and residents of Green Valley.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Ferry adjourned the special meeting of the City Council at 9:25 a.m.
